January to April
January is the cheapest month on the Strip after the first week. Mid-tier rooms at Excalibur, Luxor or Flamingo drop to $45-70 midweek once CES packs up around the 10th. Weather is cool: 58F highs, 40F nights. Pools are closed except at Mandalay Bay, Circa's Stadium Swim and a few heated decks. Bring a jacket for the Fremont Street outdoor stretch. Restaurant reservations are wide open.
February brings Chinese New Year and Super Bowl weekend, both of which double rates. Presidents' Day weekend is also expensive. March explodes with spring break, March Madness (every sportsbook packed the second weekend) and NASCAR weekend. April is arguably the best month: 80F days, pools reopening around the 1st, and rates in the $120-180 range midweek before summer heat and conventions kick in.
May to August
May is warm and busy. EDC in mid-May sends Strip and airport hotel rates through the roof for four nights; anywhere near the Motor Speedway sells out. Memorial Day weekend closes the month with pool parties in full swing. June averages 100F, July and August 105-110F. This is peak pool season and, paradoxically, a value window midweek: rooms drop to $80-130 because leisure travelers avoid the heat.
Everything outdoor is open but brutal after 10am: Red Rock, Valley of Fire and Hoover Dam are morning-only trips. Bring a refillable bottle, cover the car steering wheel, and don’t plan a walking day on the Strip. The upside: dayclubs are unbeatable and shows run their full schedules. Fourth of July fireworks over the Strip are visible from most high-floor rooms facing east.
September to December
September stays hot until the last week but rates start easing. October is the sweet spot: 85F days, 60F nights, pools still open through mid-month, and the Las Vegas Grand Prix mid-November aside, rates are reasonable at $100-160. Halloween weekend is themed and busy. November cools to 70F highs; pools close by the 15th at most properties, and the Grand Prix weekend spikes Strip rooms to $600+.
December is split. The first two weeks are the year's quietest and cheapest window outside early January — rooms at $50-90, restaurants half-empty. Then NFR (National Finals Rodeo) hits from around the 5th to the 14th and every western-themed bar fills up. New Year's Eve is the single most expensive night of the year: three-night minimums, $400-1,200 rooms, and the Strip closes to vehicles from about 6pm.
