The clear winners
Mandalay Bay leads for the wave pool, lazy river and Shark Reef aquarium on-site. Excalibur is cheap, kid-themed and has the Fun Dungeon arcade — rooms from $70 midweek. The Venetian's suites sleep four comfortably at 650 square feet and gondola rides amuse kids for about an hour. Off-Strip, JW Marriott in Summerlin has a pool complex, no smoking casino nearby, and a park across the road. Four Seasons is the quiet luxury pick — no casino at all inside the hotel.
What to skip with kids
Skip The Cosmopolitan (party crowd), Encore/Wynn (adults-only vibe), and any hotel with a dayclub — those pool decks are not appropriate. Skip anything with 'adults-only pool' in the description. Downtown is fine during the day for the Fremont Street Experience but the crowds after 8pm can get rowdy. The Strat has a decent thrill-ride package for older kids ($40 for unlimited rides) if you’re staying at the north end.

Questions, answered
Can under-21s stay in Las Vegas hotels?
They can stay as guests with an adult, but no one under 21 can be on the casino floor except to walk directly through. All check-ins require an adult 21 or older.
Are there hotels without a casino?
Yes — Four Seasons, Waldorf Astoria, Vdara, Delano, Trump International, and most Summerlin-area resorts have no casino inside the hotel building.
